AUSTIN A MOTHER
Three years ago, deep in the political heart of Texas, the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce decided to produce a local parade to celebrate a historic national event--the three nights in 1969 of civil unrest in New York City remembered as Stonewall. About 450 people marched in the Texas capital's first parade in 2002, which drew about 20,000 spectators.
